Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has received his transfer to Inter Milan, the Serie A giants confirmed Tuesday morning.
According to the BBC, the 27-year-old Eriksen is now signed with Inter through June 2024, and the Italian club paid £16.9 million to the North London outfit.
The Danish international played in 28 matches for Spurs this season, scoring 51 goals in 226 appearances since coming to England from Dutch side Ajax in August 2013 for £11.5 million.
The move, understandably, comes at a rough time for Spurs, who are without Harry Kane due to a hamstring injury. However, with Eriksen set to leave on a free transfer at the end of the current season, Spurs pulled the trigger to recoup their investment — and by all indications, made a £5.4 million profit with the sale.
Eriksen leaves Tottenham, currently sixth in the Premier League, to join an Inter Milan club three points off the pace of Italian leaders Juventus and are in the mix for Champions League football next fall.
In addition, Spurs announced that Giovani Lo Celso‘s loan move from Real Betis is now permanent.
