Arsenal acquired former Manchester City part time defender Pablo Mari on loan for the remainder of the season with an option to buy from Brazilian side Flamengo on Wednesday morning, a move which should help bolster a defensive unit that has been lacking this season.
Mari, a 26-year-old, helped the Rio de Janerio side win the Brazilian Serie A title as well as the Copa Libertadores crown last year.
He only made 22 appearances for Flamengo after joining the club in July from City, for whom he had been the property of since 2016. Mari went on three separate loan stints from the Blue side of Manchester, including two stints in Spain — one with Deportivo de La Coruña, the former side of Revolution midfielder Carles Gil.
The Gunners are currently 10th in the English top flight, and are at Burnley Sunday.
