MLS New England Revolution

Revs roster up to 24 with addition of winger Emmanuel Boateng

The Revolution Signing Express hit two players on Thursday afternoon as the club announced it has signed free agent winger Emmanuel Boateng, bringing the 2021 roster to 24.

Per club policy, contract details were not announced.

Much like A.J. DeLaGarza, who the club announced it had signed Thursday morning, Boateng played under Bruce Arena while with the LA Galaxy when he came to Major League Soccer ahead of the 2016 season.

Boateng spent 2020 with DC United before he went to eventual MLS Cup champion Columbus in August. He made 10 appearances including three starts for the Crew, picking up one assist.

Prior to coming to the United States, Boateng played in the Swedish Allsvensken with Helsingborgs IF.

“Ema Boateng is an experienced left-footed attacking player with very good pace. He is comfortable playing on the flanks, which is an area where he can help improve our team.” Arena said in a club statement. “Ema’s character and professionalism will be welcomed additions to our team, and we look forward to his arrival in Foxborough.”

Through five MLS seasons, Boateng has made 121 appearances with 68 starts, having scored nine goals with 14 assists.

Boateng is a domestic player, according to MLS.
