Tommy Mac is back.
The Revolution announced Tuesday afternoon the club has re-signed midfielder Tommy McNamara for the 2021 season, bringing him back following his short stay in free agency.
McNamara had been out of contract with the Revolution after roster decisions were made two weeks ago, but head coach Bruce Arena noted he wanted to bring a couple of those players back. McNamara, a midseason acquisition from Houston on Aug. 17, made 14 appearances including 11 starts for New England, recording two helpers.
McNamara played a couple of positions, including the 6/8 and the No. 10 for the Revolution.
2021 will be McNamara’s eight season in Major League Soccer. The Brown University product was a SuperDraft selection of now defunct Chivas USA, before he went to New York City FC in 2015. In the Bronx, McNamara had great success in four seasons, scoring 13 goals with 14 assists in 86 appearances.
New England now has 21 rostered players for next season.
