The Revolution continued to build its Revs II roster on Tuesday, signing 17-year-old Revolution Academy product Meny Silva of Roxbury, Mass.
According to a release form the club, Silva will join the roster pending approval from USL League One.
Silva, a striker, is the first player from the Revs Academy to go directly to New England’s third division side from the development academy instead of going to college. In addition, he becomes the third Massachusetts resident to join Revs II, after Attleborough’s Nick Woodruff — a former Revs Academy product that attended Michigan State University — and Lowell’s Mayele Malango signed contracts two weeks ago.
Silva scored six goals across 20 combined appearances with the Revolution Academy’s U-17 and U-19 sides after joining the program during the 2017-18 US Soccer Development Academy season. Through the first half of the 2019-20 season, he posted three goals in nine appearances for the U-19s.
With Silva’s signing, the Revs II roster currently has nine players listed. In-house team reporter Jeff Lemieux noted last week that technical director Curt Onalfo wants 12-16 players under a League One contract.
