WHO: Revolution vs. Minnesota United
WHERE: Portland, Oregon
WHEN: 5:30 p.m. ET
TV/RADIO: Livestream on RevolutionSoccer.net
WHAT’S UP: The Revs have moved on from LA and are now in Portland for the next week. Two preseason matches are down, three to go, and it’s time for the Loons.

We’re underway from Providence Park. Revs in the home navy blues, the Loons in the whites.

3′ Mancienne playing the left center back side, and he has two partial clearances in the last minute.

4′ Gregius with a drive after Zahibo chased and tried to clear.

5′ Turner with a corral…Minnesota has been on the ball more in the opening minutes in Portland.

10′ Amarilla offside by a mile on that pass from Dotson.

11′ Almost for the Revs as Bye feeds Penilla, he crosses, but the Loons get to it before Bunbury. Corner to the Revs.

12′ Another one. Will be interesting to see Penilla get shots off on that right side if that’s where he’ll play this season.

13′ Free kick after Buksa is fouled. About 30 yards away. Bou is over it.

14′ That failed…. Jones out-runs Findlay on that next Loons move.

16′ Bye with a denial off a back heel. Goal kick to the Revs.

17′ Turner with a leaping stop.

19′ Saaaaave, Turner… the parry goes out to the top of the box, and it goes high and over the bar.

20′ Buksa with a cross, Miller easily handles it… no trailer looking to get that.

21′ Corner to Minnesota.

23′ GOAL MINNESOTA, and that’s Luis Amarilla with his second preseason goal, as he heads in the volley from the left. 1-0 to the Loons.

28′ GOAL REVOLUTION, and that didn’t take long for the equalizer, with Adam Buksa doing the honors. Bunbury had the layoff from Penilla, and Buksa had the finish around Miller. 1-1

29′ Amarilla has a go, Turner with the save.

30′ Turner races off his line and bails out the Revs’ back line there. They were flat-footed.

34′ PENALTY TO MINNESOTA. Farrell with a foul inside the penalty area, Loons with a chance to make it 2-1.

35′ GOAL MINNESOTA. Amarilla buries it into the roof of the net, a well-taken pen, and it’s 2-1 to Minnesota United.

37′ Solid try by the Revs, as Bye’s cross to Bunbury goes right into Tyler Miller’s gut.

41′ Huge save by Turner as Dotson got free after some nice football by the Loons. That’s a corner…. and Boxhall heads it over the bar.

43′ Nice shot by DeJuan, right to Miller.

HALF

Thoughts:

People will give Mancienne flak on the first Loons goal, but there was a flick backward by Farrell that must be taken into account. Right now, the center back pairing are responsible, however, for the two goals against.

Solid lay-off by Bunbury, who hasn’t done too much. And truthfully, neither has the entire offense.

Second half underway

46′ Starters still out there.

47′ Well, Findlay beat Jones on that one, and his shot is going wide, but Turner stops it and keeps things going.

51′ Penilla tries to feed Buksa, but the Loons put it over the end line. Corner.

53′ OMG, how did that not go in?! Bou passes out to Bunbury, who fires goalward… but Michael Boxhall clears it off the line.

55′ Bou with a blistering shot of the counter… right on Miller. Miller’s going to have a mark after that.

58′ Bou with another shot, this time deflected over the end line for a corner… Bou’s service goes to Zahibo, he heads it wide.

60′ That was close by the Loons, as Boxhall breaks in, but taps it wide.

61′ Rowe, Fagundez, and Kessler coming on, Bunbury, Mancienne, and Caldwell coming off. Rowe playing at the No. 6.

64′ Farrell with an interception in the front of the goal…. play goes the other way, and Bou sends it toward Seattle.

71′ GOAL REVOLUTION, and it’s Gustavo Bou slipping it past a hard-charging Miller, and we’re level in the final 20 minutes. 2-2

74′ Free kick to the Revs out on the flank, dangerous area. DF14 over it.

75′ Fagundez with a left?!?! Miller had the save, Zahibo puts the ball over the bar. Subs for Minnesota.

78′ Seth Sinovic comes on for DeJuan Jones. A really good shift for DeJuan.

83′ Almost a second for Buksa, as Sinovic crosses into the heart of the penalty area, the ball meets Buksa’s head, and right to Miller’s hands. Liking the Revs’ ball movement against Minnesota’s 4-4-2.

84′ ALMOST for Minnesota. Schoenfeld hits barely wide…. and off the corner, Batista has a go, goes wide. Two bites of the apple for the Loons.

87′ Damian Rivera coming on for the Revs. He replaces Zahibo. Reminder that Rivera scored twice at midweek.

Full Time

Today’s Revs starting XI: Turner; Farrell, Mancienne, Bye, Jones, S.Caldwell, Zahibo, Bunbury, Penilla, Buksa, Bou

Bench: Knighton (GK), Kessler, Rowe, Rennicks, Fagundez, Sinovic, Buchanan, Rivera

So Michael Mancienne, who only went 17 minutes against Colorado, gets the nod today. We’ll see how long he goes.

Jeff Lemieux reports that today is more about tactics than simply fitness.
