Alright, let’s get things underway. Periodic updates to follow. Revs in blue, Galaxy in gray. No jersey numbers for the Galaxy.
′ Corner to the Galaxy after Rowe with the giveaway. It’s a shot corner, and Katai — formerly with Chicago — fires wide.
′ ALMOST for Fagundez, who wants Bou’s cross. But the Galaxy knock it over the end line. Corner to the Revs.
′ Bou’s service goes right to Bingham. Revs are in the old home kit, just noticed that.
′ Corona has a go from 30 yards, over the bar.
′ GOAL GALAXY. 1-0 as Ethan Zubak gets between Kessler and Sinovic, heads it in.
′ LA looked to go at Sinovic and Kessler right there. Slightly flat-footed.
′ Great first touch by Buksa on Fagundez’s pass, but LA gets back in time to deny the goal… on the corner, Buksa heads it off the bar, and Bingham pops it over for another corner…
′ Another one, this time from the other side….. goal kick.
′ Katai with a shot, Turner with the dive.
′ Neat counter by the Revs, Fagundez with the right footer, wide.
′ Penilla’s cross to Buksa is behind him. Kobi Jones noting how much space the Galaxy are giving Penilla out on the right.
′ Corner the Revs as DF14 tries to feed an overlapping Sinovic.
′ Good defending by Bye to track back on LA’s counter, concedes the corner…. and that was close by the Galaxy. Revs aren’t tracking on the set pieces.
′ GOAL GALAXY, and it’s Christian Pavon who taps the ball past Kessler and Turner to make it 2-0.
′ Penilla with a go, wide.
′ GOAL REVOLUTION, and that’s Gustavo Bou tapping in Buksa’s cross. Good off the ball run by Bou, he holds up to make sure he’s onside, and it’s 2-1 to the Galaxy.
′ Corner to the Galaxy… Zahibo clears it, and that’s the end of the first half.
A quick halftime… back underway. Brad Knighton replaces Turner, DeJuan Jones for Sinovic.
′ Saaaave Knighton on Pavon.
′ Corner to the Galaxy.
′ Goal kick for the Revs after the Galaxy torches the back; Kelyn Rowe helped and tracked back.
′ Free kick to the Revs after Rowe is fouled…. subs coming in a minute or so. Bou sends it to Pasadena.
′ Good defending by Brandon Bye to deny the Galaxy. Changes coming in.
′ Corner to the Galaxy…. Jones with another neat run.
′ Figuring out a few of the newbies… Firmino wearing 29; we didn’t see him enough last year. Simon Lekressner wearing 41, and he’s supplementing the back, it looks. Rennicks is out there, so is Tajon Buchanan. Hey, it’s Isaac Angking!
′ Bunbury with a foul; Galaxy closed down on him right quick.
′ Kiriniac tries to beat Jones, can’t. Good play by DeJuan.
′ I believe that was Tajon with that close down to force a high shot and a goal kick for the Revolution.
′ Corner to the Galaxy. Not a lot of scoring opportunities in this second half.
′ Until then, as Rennicks has a point-blank shot, saved by the backup Galaxy goalkeeper. Good run by Buchanan to get that developed off the pass of Jones on the other side.
′ Don’t want to see that, Araujo defends Scott Caldwell’s cross, and he slips on one of the track and field throwing circles on the out of bounds side of the end line….
′ Two chances by the Revs, but Bunbury and Buchanan can’t get their full foot on the ball.
′ Jones with a shot, saved by the Galaxy keeper. Keeper kept his mitts on it, luckily, since Buchanan was ready to coil like a viper and strike.
The Revs headed west on Thursday following three weeks of training in Foxborough.
Today’s match is the first of five preseason tilts on the west coast. After today, New England will play Colorado here on Wednesday before moving north to Portland to play the following: Minnesota United on Sunday, Feb. 16, Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday, Feb. 19, and host Portland on Saturday, Feb. 22.
Revs in-house reporter Jeff Lemieux wrote that Bruce Arena wanted the players to be at 45 minutes fitness ahead of the trip to LA, so we’re expecting heavy rotation at the interval.
Matt Turner has said that the coaching staff is easing him back into things following his month with the U.S. men’s national team camp.
